WISHLIST WEDNESDAY
Where to begin when your budget is choosing the first door
Mahjong tile brands can range from under $70 to well over $600—and the most expensive set is not automatically the right set for you.
The best place to start is with the experience you want: easy-to-read tiles for learning, a compact travel set, a modern design that transforms the table or an heirloom-style collection you plan to keep for years. We sorted 18 brands into three practical budget tiers to make the search easier.
How the tiers work: Low is under $200; mid is $200 through $400, including both boundary prices; high is anything over $400.
Important: We are sorting individual tile collections—not declaring that every product from a brand belongs in one tier. Several brands appear across multiple budgets because travel, standard, XL and specialty tiles can be priced very differently.

At this level, expect more visual drama: layered acrylic, unusual finishes, larger formats, artist-led concepts or especially distinctive presentation.
MAC + MILLER MAHJONG · FROM $425
